Annual Planning Meeting Highlights
The first topic that will be discussed is the State of Indiana’s Consumer Driven Health Care Plan (CDHP) and Health Savings Account (HSA) model. Indiana has earned a reputation as the national leader in implementing such plans in state government. Indiana’s progressive program currently has 85 percent participation and saved their state more than $17 million in 2010 alone. Officials from the Indiana Governor’s office and benefits office will be at Thursday’s meeting to give a presentation on their model, their experience, and to convey their support of an Indiana-type program offered through EBC.

At about 10:15 a.m., the Council will also consider another idea that could save state agencies millions of dollars and ensure state resources are being used efficiently. This discussion will be on the possibility of conducting an audit of dependents covered by the state. Historically, in large employer groups, it is estimated that five to 15 percent of dependents are ineligible. Based on that estimate, an overall savings to the state of between $8 million and $25 million dollars could be realized.
